Recently Gartner published the Magic Quadrant for Insight Engines. As per Gartner, “Insight engines apply relevancy methods to describe, discover, organize and analyze data. This allows existing or synthesized information to be delivered proactively or interactively, and in the context of digital workers, customers or constituents at timely business moments.”

Insight Engines are differentiated from Search Engines in their ability to leverage Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing techniques to derive additional information and insights from the different structured and unstructured content of the Organisation.

From a search perspective, it is a natural evolution and the future is very interesting.

Mindbreeze, IBM, Sinequa and Coveo are placed in the Leaders quadrant.

Google’s ‘Google Cloud Seach’ is in the Challenger quadrant. While Google has become a synonym for search, it has a lot of catch up to do in this segment. Google Workspace is itself in the preliminary stages of evolution as an enterprise workspace solution.

Like Google, Microsoft also has the baggage of a product attached to the Insight Engine. Since it is not unbundled, its usage will be limited to companies that have licenses O365.

MindBreeze, the leader in Magic Quadrant, has some very interesting use-cases like enterprise search, employee portals, intranet search and knowledge management, customer service maintenance support, and search-driven business intelligence (BI).
